The "Shop-in-a-box" is a scheme specifically designed for charitable purposes. It allows volunteers of the smaller charity, without any prior financial commitment or utilizing other valuable resources, to run a small retail outlet at an organised or ad-hoc event. The shop stock which is supplied on a "sale or return basis" is sent in boxes to the required location before the event. The volunteers sell the stock at the charity's own "marked-up" prices on the day. The returns i.e. unsold stock, are collected and the boxes are re-stocked and sent on to the next event which may or may not be the same recipient charity. The original charity is then invoiced for the stock that was sold on the day The scheme also provides:- 1. A greater and varied selection of products due to a greater purchasing power. 2. Product & Public liability insurance are already in place, and the volunteers, whilst selling the products, are covered under our own employer's liability insurance. 3. There are full product guarantees, a returns policy and procedure are in place, with a full and complete after-sales service. 4. Simple paperwork for the volunteers and therefore, better financially accountability and easy "paper-trail".
