The mark consists of a rounded label with an irregular edge in the centre of which is a black cock on a shaded gold background delimited by a circular white and brown ribbon drawn with a three-dimensional effect; the exterior red annulus is delimited by a circumference in gold which contains in the upper part the inscription "CHIANTI CLASSICO" in white and in the lower part the inscription "DAL 1716"; outside the annulus is an irregular red field which gives the mark the appearance of a wax seal.
