Computer software: integrated and automated environment for carrying out electric power system grounding studies. It consists of several computation modules that derive equivalent soil structures from soil resistivity data, determine the current split between station grounding systems and connected power line ground return paths, and study the effectiveness of grounding installations with respect to electrical safety of both personnel and equipment. This software computes the resistance of grounding grids, the earth potentials anywhere around the installations and the Ground Potential Rise of the grounding grid and of nearby buried metallic structures. It also computes the expected touch and step voltages around the installations, and indicate the regions where safe limits are exceeded. It accounts for complex soil structures and for the presence of transmission or distribution lines connected to the grid. It includes a CAD-based environment, ampacity calculation.
