The promotion, fostering and development of interest in the art and science of environmental conservation within the Canadian petroleum industry; the collection and dissemination of information of value to its members, the public, and all levels of government in Canada regarding developments in the science of environmental conservation within the Canadian petroleum industry; the assessment and appraisal of the effectiveness and feasibility of environmental control devices and programs and the review and consideration of legislation and regulations pertinent to environmental conservation and the making of recommendations concerning same; the establishment of liaison with conservation groups representative of other industries; the preparation and recommendation of plans, procedures and programs for application and use by the Canadian petroleum industry in combatting emergencies involving the ignition or escape of petroleum products; the provision of funds for research in the subject of environmental conservation; and the provision and arrangement for educational lectures, classes and conferences consistent with the above services.
